If children wants to be blessed, they simply need to observe what the Bible teaches... And if they obey, only good will come unto them. For punishment is only for the disobedient.

Ephesians 6:1-3 - Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;
That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

But why do youngsters think they know better? Well, too many factors. But peers and lack of activity that help them grow in the Lord is one of the biggest. Sometimes, it's also the examples they see from their parents. Regardless though, children need to be reminded of the benefits that comes in obeying.

They also need to know what kind of "Love" a parent has to his/her children. Good to always remind them of these...
  1. Is there anyone that will work for you to feed and protect you until you reach adulthood? No one.
  2. Will there be anyone who is willing to die for you? Unlikely, but your parent would.
  3. Will your Dad/Mom tell you to do something that could hurt you? To kill, to steal or to engage in immoral acts? There are a few that would do this, but 98%, the answer would be no.
  4. Will your parents give you work more than you could do? Unlikely...
  5. Will your parents prefer that you'll be out in the school? Never! Finishing school is always a step to the future.
  6. Will your parents prefer that you enter a relationship while in school? No, because that is only a distraction and a risk to your future.
  7. Will your parents want to see you not know Jesus. No. That will be their biggest loss in life. To see their children burn in hell forever!
And there's so much more. But logic will give you the obvious answer to children and parent related questions.

Children... You can show your love to your parents by obeying them. It's the same way you can show your love to God and Jesus as well...
